Huntingdon Drops Senior Day Contest, 76-60, Against LaGrange

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Huntingdon College men's basketball team struggled scoring in the, 76-60, loss to LaGrange College on Saturday evening in Roland Arena.

Huntingdon's senior Ephriam Hudson paced the team with 11 points, followed by senior Adrian Williams' 9. LaGrange shot 55.1 percent (27-of-49) from the field compared to Huntingdon's 30.7 percent (23-of-75).

The Hawks took their first lead of the opening half, 22-21, after a jumper by senior Ephriam Hudson with 8:10 remaining. Huntingdon held onto the lead until 4:16 left in the half, when LaGrange's Blake Craft nailed a three-pointer giving the Panther's a 32-31 advantage.

Hawks freshman Dayne Smith sank a three-pointer trimming LaGrange's margin to five points, 39-34, with 1:20 remaining. LaGrange added five straight points, 44-34, taking a 10 point advantage into intermission.

In the second half, LaGrange maintained a double digit lead over Huntingdon, including the Panthers largest margin, 76-55, with 3:10 left in regulation. The Panthers outscored the Hawks 32-26 in the final period of Saturday's game.

Despite the loss, Huntingdon out-rebounded the Panthers 42-39 while senior Jack Montgomery and junior Jacob Moody each grabbed seven boards in the loss.

The Panthers (4-19, 2-3 GSAC) were led by senior Nic Whitfield with a game-high 20 points, while Craft added 14 in the victory.

The Hawks (10-12, 2-3 GSAC) return to Roland Arena on Monday, Feb. 14, taking on Berry College at 6 p.m.
