HuntingdonOffers Slate Of Summer Camps
MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Huntingdon College Athletic Department will offer a variety of summer camps for local youth this summer, a football camp, as well as two sessions of baseball and basketball camps.
In addition to the individual camps, the Huntingdon men’s and women’s basketball programs will each offer a team camp, while the women’s golf program will hold a variety of different clinics.
The Huntingdon Youth Football Camp will be held from June 1-4 from 8 a.m. until noon and is open to kids ages 6-12. Each camper will receive individual instruction to increase basic football skills, in a “non-contact” setting. Participants will be placed in practice groups according to age, skill level, and size. During the four-day session campers will receive instruction in both offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Daily schedules will include two morning sessions with a snack break. Football skills and team competitions will allow participants to display their individual talents while participating in a group setting. The cost of the camp is $100 and will include a camp T-shirt and a daily snack.
The Huntingdon Baseball Summer Camp will be held from May 27-29 and June 15-17, at Posey Field on Huntingdon’s campus. The camp, which costs $120, is open to children ages 5-15 and will be held from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The camp is designed to incorporate all fundamentals of the game of baseball, highlighted by pitching, hitting and base running drills and instructions. Included in the registration fee is a camp T-shirt for each camper.
The Huntingdon Men’s Basketball team will offer two individual camps, June 29-July 1 and July 9-11, for children ages 6-17. The camp will feature instruction from Huntingdon’s coaching staff and is designed to improve all aspects of the game, including shooting, ball handling and dribbling and passing and receiving. The camp, which costs $150 and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, will also feature individual and team competitions and 5-on-5 competition, all while focusing on the fun and fundamentals of basketball. In addition to an improved knowledge of the game, each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and customized basketball. Discount rates are available for siblings.
Following a successful inaugural season at the helm of the Huntingdon Women’s Golf program, head coach Gwen Watson will offer several clinics available to children ages 6-18. Half-day clinics are available for $40, and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, while full-day clinics are available for $75 and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Multiple-day clinics are also available and will range in price from $85 to $200.
