Lady Eagles Sweep Tornados

Faulkner cruised to a pair of victories over Talladgea this afternoon at
Wynn Field. The Lady Eagles’ sound pitching backed by aggressive work at the plate secured the 7-1 and 8-0 wins.

Heather Smith logged the team’s first home run of the season with a solo shot to deep center in the third inning and finished the game 3-for-3 with doubles in here other two plate appearances.

Samantha Belden controlled the circle through all seven innings and allowed five hits and no earned runs while tallying a pair of strikeouts.

Tori Hollis sparked the Lady Eagles’ scoring efforts in the second game with a two-RBI single in the first. Amy Page followed with a two-RBI single of her own to give the home team and early 4-0 lead.

Page went to work again in the third inning with a triple to right field and advanced home on a wild pitch just moments later.

Scottie Wilkes caped Faulkner’s scoring efforts in the fourth inning with an RBI double.

Katy Wiggins gave up just three hits will putting away six hitters at the
plate en route to the shutout.

Haley Munroe and Missy Duke were both 2-for-3 in the opener and Duke had two RBIs. Erin Byrd, Smith, Hollis and Wilkes were all 1-for-2 in the second event and Hollis and Wilkes each had a pair of RBIs.

Page was 3-for-4 with three RBIs on the day.

Faulkner (3-1) will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Friday to take on No. 12
Belhaven in a Southern States Athletic Conference division showdown. The doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
