Yates, Alter Named Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes, and two members of the Auburn University at Montgomery team were mentioned.



Stephen Yates, Birmingham, is a senior majoring in business management. This is the second time for Yates to receive the honor. Earlier, Yates was named Second-Team All-SSAC and to the SSAC All-Academic Team.



Bruce Alter, Montgomery, is a junior majoring in health science. The Saint James graduate was also named to the SSAC All-Academic Team.



To receive the Scholar-Athlete honor, recipients are required to be a junior or above and academic standing; in attendance at the institution a minimum of one full year of attendance and has a minimum grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale).
