Baxley Throws One-Hitter

MONTGOMERY—Stephanie Baxley (1-1) recorded another first for the Lady Senators softball team when she threw a one-hit shut out in a 9-0 win over Huntingdon College in the Lady Senators first home date for the first-year program.



Baxley had eight strikeouts in the win and the lone hit was a one-out single in the top of the fifth inning by Kasey Andrews.



Shea Driggers had two doubles for the Lady Senators with five RBI in leading the AUM hit parade. Joanna Reynolds continues to hit the ball well for AUM as she had two hits and three RBI.



The win helped AUM avoid the sweep as Huntingdon won the opener 5-2. Nicole Hill went the distance for Huntingdon allowing seven hits and only two runs in defeating AUM in the host team’s first home game.



Ashley Blocker had two hits and three RBI for the Hawks and Barton Hunter scored two runs in the contest.



AUM scored on two solo home runs, one of the bat of Alli Converse and the other from Kendall Thomas, who finished with two hits. Stacin Halverson also had two hits in the loss.



The Lady Senators are now 3-3 on the season and Huntingdon is 2-6. AUM will be back in action on Friday when it jumps into Southern States Athletic Conference action at Brewton-Parker College. The double-header is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
