Senators Lose at Mobile in Double Overtime

By Adam Bagni

MOBILE—It took two overtimes but Mobile was able to defeat Auburn University at Montgomery 72-65 in men’s basketball action.

AUM actually trailed 52-47 with a minute left in overtime, but a Quadavious Brown three followed by a steal and dunk by Robert Johnson evened the score at 52 and sent the game into the first overtime period.

Neither team could generate much in the first overtime as the teams only managed three points each to send the game into a second extra period.

Durrell Moreaux led the Rams to the win with 31 points, including going 15 for 15 at the free throw line.

Kip Small led AUM with 24 points and Robert Johnson and Quadavious Brown each had 12 in the loss.

The Rams were able to hit 24 of their 30 free throw attempts while the Senators only hit 15 of their 23 attempts, but the major difference in the game was AUM’s inability to hit the boards. Mobile out rebounded AUM 47-19 in the game.

AUM falls to 14-4 on the season while Mobile moves to 11-4 overall. The Senators will be back home on Saturday when they host cross-town and conference rival, Faulkner University, at 4 p.m.
