Rollins Leads Biscuits to 4-1 Triumph

By Adam Bagni

JACKSON, TN - Heath Rollins worked six solid innings and the Biscuits dispatched the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, 4-1, on Friday night at Pringles Park.

A one-out to Brandon Chaves cost Jaxx starter Luis Munoz a run and the lead in the first inning. A batter later, Matt Fields chased Chaves around from first with an RBI double to the left-field corner and the Biscuits led, 1-0.

The Biscuits added three runs to lead by four in the third inning. Desmond Jennings led off the inning with a single. He advanced to second on a Chaves ground out and scored when Fields added a single to his earlier RBI double. Cesar Suarez then cracked his third home run of the season to left-center field to give the Biscuits a 4-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Rollins was cruising, making a perfect first trip through the Jaxx order. He struck out four of the first nine that he faced through three innings. He didn't allow a hit until the fourth and the first runner didn't advance past second base until the fifth.

Munoz (2-3) departed after four innings, having conceded four earned runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out two, suffering his third loss of the season.

Rollins (6-5) ultimately earned his sixth win of the season, working into the seventh inning, but not recording an out in the inning. Neal Frontz relieved him in the seventh and allowed one inherited runner to score. Rollins finished with just that one run on is line, allowing six singles, walking two and striking out five.

Frontz worked two scoreless innings of relief in the seventh and eighth and handed it off to Mike Wlodarczyk for the ninth. Wlodarczyk earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless inning as the Biscuits took a two-games-to-one lead in the series.

The series will conclude with a doubleheader scheduled for 5:05 PM on Saturday night at Pringles Park. RHP Aneury Rodriguez (3-8, 6.52) will oppose a yet to be determined starter in game one, while RHP Brian Baker (3-1, 3.71) is matched against RHP Justin Souza (4-6, 3.40) in game two.
