MONTGOMERY - Despite pitching only nine games in the Southern League this season, Biscuits starter David Price was named to the Southern League's postseason all-star team. The league office announced the team on Thursday.
Price, baseball's no. 1 pick in the 2007 June First-Year Player Draft, went 7-0 during his six weeks with the Biscuits, posting a 1.89 ERA. The 6-foot-6 lefty pitched 57 innings, allowing only 42 hits (a .206 opponents' batting average) and 16 walks, while striking out 55.
Price was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week twice this season.
Price was the only Biscuit to make the Southern League's postseason all-star team. In 2007, five Biscuits were selected to the team, including Evan Longoria (3B), Chris Mason (RHP), John Jaso (C), Dale Thayer (RP) and Fernando Perez (OF). Other Biscuits to have been selected to the team include Rico Washington (2005, 3B); Delmon Young (2005, OF); and Andy Sonnanstine (2006, RHP).
