MONTGOMERY -- The Tampa Bay Rays have made a pair of roster moves affecting the Montgomery Biscuits.
Third baseman Chris Nowak has been promoted to Durham (AAA - International League). Nowak had been hitting .295 for the Biscuits in 118 games, with 15 home runs and 77 RBIs. He had been among the Southern League Leaders in many categories, including RBIs (5th), hits (4th; 136), doubles (4th; 35), extra-base hits (3rd; 54) and runs scored (4th; 80).
Nowak was the 2007 Southern League Championship Series MVP, going 11-for-18 with three home runs in the Biscuits' 3-to-2 series victory over the Huntsville Stars. He departs the Biscuits among the club's all-time leaders in hits (3rd; 248), runs (3rd; 134), doubles (2nd; 56), home runs (3rd; 24), RBIs (2nd; 132), walks (3rd; 109) and extra-base hits (2nd; 82).
To fill Nowak's roster spot, the Biscuits have activated outfielder Sergio Pedroza from the disabled list. Pedroza is hitting .261 with four home runs and 33 RBIs in 78 games and has been hampered by a sore hamstring.
