Santos' Shot Lifts Troy To 5-2 Win Over Alabama

By Alabama News Network

Trae Santos hit a three-run homer and Ali Knowles singled in two more runs as Troy scored all of its runs in the fourth inning of a 5-2 victory over Alabama 5-2 in an NCAA regional game Friday.
Santos' 17th homer of the season started the outburst that gave Trojans starter Shane McCain a 5-1 cushion. McCain (9-1) scattered seven hits and fanned six before leaving with two runners on with two outs in the seventh for Troy (41-18).
Tanner Hicks, Troy's likely starter Saturday, got one out for his second save.
Charley Sullivan (5-7) allowed six hits and four earned runs before leaving with one out in the fourth for Alabama (34-27).
Kenny Roberts drove in Alabama's first run with a sacrifice fly in the third and Austen Smith homered in the seventh.
Troy avenged an 11-2 loss at Alabama three weeks ago, advanced to Saturday's winners' bracket.
