Former Faulkner pitcher traded to Cubs for Soriano

By Alabama News Network

Former Faulkner Eagle Chris Black has been traded to the Chicago Cubs in a trade that sent 7-time All-Star Alfonso Soriano back to New York.

Black was a fourth round pick of the Yankees in last year's draft.

Through 82.2 innings for the Tampa Yankees (High-A), Black has 88 strikeouts against just two home runs, but has walked 45 batters, and has posted a 4.25 ERA.

Black is noted for having a great fastball (has reaced 100 MPH) and is expected to stay at the High-A level for the Cubs.
