Auburn's Defensive Line Emerging As Strength

By Alabama News Network

Auburn's defensive line hasn't taken over a game quite like this since Nick Fairley left for the NFL after the 2010 national championship season.
The Tigers had six sacks and 14 tackles behind the line in a win over Mississippi. Linemen Dee Ford, Gabe Wright and freshman Carl Lawson each had two sacks.
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn says the Tigers "played in their backfield a lot of the night, and I thought that was a big key to the game."
The Tigers front four is emerging as the defensive strength.
The six sacks were the most the Tigers have produced since the 2005 defense had 11 against Alabama.
They've done it without injured tackle Jeff Whitaker. Malzahn said Tuesday Whitaker will take a redshirt season.
Auburn hosts Western Carolina Saturday.
