AND BY THAT I MEAN… OF COURSE… THE N-I-T… MOST NOTABLY TROY… THE TROJANS GARNERED AN AUTOMATIC BID INTO THE TOURNAMENT BECAUSE THEY WON THE SUN BELT REGULAR SEASON… AND THEY WILL FACE A TOUGH OPPONENT WEDNESDAY NIGHT… AS THEY TRAVEL TO OLE MISS… TROY LOST A THREE POINT HEART-BREAKER TO NORTH TEXAS LAST WEEK IN THE SUN BELT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME… WHICH KEPT THEM OUT OF THE BIG DANCE… /// AS FOR THE OTHER IN-STATE PARTICIPATE… UAB… IS ALSO IN THE TOURNAMENT AS THE NUMBER TWO SEED… THEY PLAY COASTAL CAROLINA TOMORROW… COACHED BY FORMER AUBURN HEAD MAN… CLIFF ELLIS… ///

MEANWHILE… ALABAMA ATHLETIC DIRECTOR MAL MOORE IS ONE OF FIVE FINALISTS FOR THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD… PRESENTED BY THE SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL… AND THAT’S LEAVING… AT LEAST A COUPLE PEOPLE… SCRATCHING THEIR HEADS… ///

ON THE ONE HAND YOU HAVE THE NATIONAL CHAMPION FOOTBALL TEAM… AND PERENNIAL NATIONAL CONTENDERS IN SOFTBALL AND GYMNASTICS… BUT… MOORE ALSO WAS AT THE HELM OF THE RECENT TEXTBOOK SCANDAL… WHICH MAY FORCE THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM TO WIPE WINS OUT OFF THE RECORD BOOKS… THE WINNER OF THE AWARD WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MAY 20TH… ///
