Schools Leaking Roof Causes Trouble

By Alabama News Network

At a meeting this week, the Selma City School Board declared a state of emergency at Knox Elementary School.

Board members say the roof is leaking rainwater into classrooms. This comes as the Alabama Department of Education announces it will intervene into the Selma City School System after reports of sexual and acadeic misconduct.

Some Selma board members say they worry the state might decide to close Knox Elementary and say they're not sure the system should invest money for a school that won't be open for students.

The repairs could cost up to $400,000.
