From the West Alabama Newsroom-- The 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery March is months away -- and officials in Selma are already working to get ready for the big event.
Selma mayor George Evans says the city is striving to put its best foot forward for the event.
Evans says the eyes of the world will be on the cities of Selma and Montgomery during the anniversary celebration.
He says a team effort is underway to make it a memorable event.
"The local government, county government, the Jubilee committee, Montgomery and its governmental staff, the National Park Service, all of these entities are working together," said Evans.
He says the release of the 'Selma' movie which recently did some filming in Selma and Montgomery -- should provide even more exposure for the event.
