The mother of a woman who was killed by gunfire in Montgomery is speaking out to CBS 8 News about the loss of her daughter.

Alfreda Davidson was shot outside a home on Mill Street Monday morning.

Venia Davidson says her daughter was a very sweet girl and doesn't understand why anyone would want to kill her.

"Why'd they take my child away?" asked Davidson.

The twenty one year old was gunned down while on the front porch of a home on Mill Street.

An eyewitness says two men were arguing and shooting at each other when Davidson was struck in the chest

The victim was a mother and leaves behind a three year old daughter.

"She's a sweet girl and she didn't bother anybody, and I don't see why nobody would want to hurt her," Davidson's mother, Venia Davidson, told CBS 8 News.

Police say it's not clear if Davidson was a target or just hit by a stray bullet.

Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made.

This is Montgomery's 19th homicide of the year.
