Montgomery County Board of Education candidates are hot on the final steps of the campaign trail.

We are 48 hours away from the primaries, and for District 1 candidates, that means securing final votes in one of the most heated races in the area.

Incumbent Heather Sellers is in her sixth year serving the Montgomery County Board of Education. She has been a PTA member, room mom, and school volunteer. She is going door to door for the final campaign push, "We're going out. We know the voters that have signs in their yards. We've targeted voters. We're asking them please remember me. We're reminding them of the work I've done on the board," says Sellers.

Lesa Keith is a teacher with more than 33 years of experience. She was the whistle blower for allegations of grade changing by some Montgomery teachers; leading to a statewide investigation into the school system. She is also hitting the streets asking people for their vote, "I want the public the people to understand what's really going on behind the scenes. I don't want anything hidden and I want it to be a very positive approach," says Keith.

Montgomery County Board of Education member are paid $10,000 each year.
