CrimeStoppers:Wetumpka Police Need Help Solving Assault Case

CBS 8 News is teaming up with Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, in the hopes of catching criminals and making streets safer.
 
In Elmore County Wetumpka Police need your help to find suspects in an assault.
 
In mid-October, the victims' night started as a drive home to Wetumpka from the national fair, but ended with one woman breaking her leg.
 
“They're doing all that new construction there coming into Wetumpka, and the [car was] running probably 85-90 mph through that zone and almost ran me into a concrete wall,” Alyssa Mcneal, one of the victims, said.
 
“I was running 85 mph at one point in time down 231, just to try and get the license tag number, but I couldn't because they were gone,” she said.
 
The road rage quickly accelerated into assault. 23-year old driver Alyssa Mcneal, 19-year old Amy Avant and another passenger continued to the Wetumpka Walmart, where they confronted the people who nearly drove them off the road.
 
The victims say three people got out of the car and approached them in the parking lot.
 
Driver: Tall woman in her 30s with long blond curly hair
Passenger: Short and thin man in his early 20s with brown hair
Assaulter: Tall and heavy man in his mid to late 30s
 
Mcneal said the larger man approached her and Avant, shoving both of them. “He took off at her, grabbed her by her hair, was swinging on her,” Mcneal said
 
Avant fell to the ground and Mcneal stepped in between the man to protect her friend.

 

 
“When he pushed me, when I went back with this leg to come across from her, so I didn't step on her or fall on her, that's when all my weight came back on this leg and my leg just snapped,” Mcneal said.
 
“I felt the snap, I heard the snap, the first thing I said was my leg is broken,” she said.
 
Immediately after, Mcneal says the man and the other suspects got in the car and were gone.
 
Wetumpka police say they have zero leads in the case, and need the public’s help to find the suspects.
 
“They are our eyes and ears in places we can’t be and we can’t be everywhere, but people can help us,” Detective Michael Stewart with the Wetumpka Police Department said.
 
“The good thing about it is, I'm okay, she's okay, a leg can be fixed, someone's life can't,” Mcneal said.
