Gay Rights Groups Pressuring Obama
President Obama - facing pressure this weekend from gay rights groups...
The President addressed the annual human rights dinner in D-C tonight.
Some gay advocates say the president isn't doing enough to promote equality.
They're pressuring him to end the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. That bans openly homosexual men and women from serving in the military.
"We need him to, to put a timetable to be aggressive, to be outspoken, this is where I'm disappointed. He's not taken the leadership role. He has not been outspoken. He's not using that bully pulpit to push our issues the way he could."
President Obama says he opposes gay marriage.
However, he says he wants to get rid of the Defense of Marriage Act. That allows states with laws banning gay marriage to NOT recognize such marriages from other states.
