The sheriff of Pike County will face opposition for his seat.

Troy Police Sergeant Jason Youngblood officially announced his candidacy Tuesday.

This is new for Thomas, he's been unopposed for the last 20 years.

Youngblood says the sheriff's office has not made enough felony drug arrests and contraband in the county jail is a problem.

Thomas disagrees but noting that it is a statewide issue.

The general elections are November 4th.
