Tuskegee Airman Reunion

By Alabama News Network

Six of the original Tuskegee Airmen are planning to hold a reunion at the Winds of Eagles Discovery Center in New York State over Memorial Day weekend.

The first black aviators in the U.S. military enlisted in the Army Air Corps and trained in Tuskegee uring the World War Two. They became one of the war's most respected fighter squadrons. The reunion is called "Return of the Red Tails," That became the squadron's nickname because the tails of their planes were painted red.
