The minority leader in the Alabama House, Democrat Craig Ford of Gadsden, has decided to run for re-election rather than seek higher office. Ford said Wednesday he can do more for education, state employees, law enforcement and others by seeking his District 28 seat again from Etowah County. Ford has considered running for governor or lieutenant governor. Both offices are held by Republicans who are seeking re-election. Friday is the deadline for Democratic and Republican candidates to sign up for this year's elections. Ford has served in the House since 2000, when he was elected to replace his late father, Rep. Joe Ford. He became House minority leader in 2010. (Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)
