Judge Dismisses Ex-Auburn Police Officer's Lawsuit
A judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a former Auburn police officer who had accused the police department of using a quota system in making traffic stops.
The Opelika-Auburn News reports that District Judge W. Harold Albritton on Monday dismissed the case filed by Justin Hanners.
Hanners maintained he was fired because of his opposition to the system he said was in place in the department.
Hanners said he was fired from the police department after accusing officials of implementing a two-per day ticketing quota. Auburn city officials said there was no quota.
The judge ruled that Hanners, who had the burden of proof to justify his case, failed to show just cause for his lawsuit.
The Opelika newspaper reports that calls to Hanners and his attorneys weren't returned.
