Students at Dalraida Elementary School celebrated Martin Luther King’s birthday Friday.

Over one hundred fourth graders sang a song about world peace.
They held lit candles representing a brighter future.

Students also wrote wishes for peace and posted them around the school.

Leslie Alvarez, Fourth Grade Student, says “I wish that Martin Luther King was in our school and could see how everybody acts and be kind to one another.”

Aver Thomley, Fourth Grade Student, says “To be kind and nice to everybody.”

Kathy Farquhar, Teacher, says, “At Dalraida we teach the children to be respectful, responsible and resourceful that’s part of our creed and those are the things that doctor kind stood for so it was perfect that we incorporate that into this program today.”

Schools will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.
