After six years, the Montgomery County Board of Education will see a new representative in District 1...

Lesa Keith took the win against incumbent, Heather Sellers. Keith was the whistle blowers for allegations of grade changing by some Montgomery teachers that lead to a statewide investigation into the school system.

She also has 33 years of experience as an Alabama teacher. Keith says her main focus is to make the school system the best it can be for Montgomery students...

"I hope right off the bat that the teachers of the city... that they can take back their classrooms and the can be done when you let these teachers discipline. And I want to make sure that there is transparency at the board and throughout the schools," Said Keith.

Keith says it's been a long road to get to this point, especially with all the controversy with the grade changing scandal. She says 'thank you' to all of her supporters and she couldn't have made it this far without them.
