From the West Alabama Newsroom--  A Wilcox County woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year is headed to prison after a re-sentencing hearing Monday afternoon.

Linda Whitted of Lower Peach Tree was sentenced to ten years in prison by Circuit Judge Collins Pettaway -- for shooting and killing Christine Portis of Lower Peach Tree -- nearly seven years ago.

Wilcox County District Attorney Michael Jackson says the shooting stemmed from an argument over a car.

"Well, hate that the family had to go through this again, said Jackson.

"She got sentenced to prison the first time and we expected that to stay and we're glad that the judge did sentence her back to the ten years in prison, of course we would have rather had twenty, but ten years we're getting another gunslinger off the street."

Jackson says a manslaughter conviction carries a sentence of two to up to Whitted was taken into custody immediately after the hearing.
