From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- People in Wilcox County are mourning the sudden loss of longtime county commissioner Mark Curl.
Funeral arrangements are now set-- and a stunned community is speaking out about the loss of one the county's most well known political figures.
Curl died suddenly of an apparent heart attack while on a hunting trip with friends over the weekend. He served 15 years as a county commissioner.
"Mark provided some stability I think on the county commission. Mark was a person that was going to look out for what was best for the county, not what was best for individuals but what was best for the county and he fought for that," said John Clyde Riggs.
"He was a very strong person in the community, very strong on the county commission. I was shocked. I'm still shocked. I was just hard to believe," said Ralph Ervin.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning at ten at the Gees Bend Ferry Terminal in Camden with burial to follow.
