The Wetumpka Civic Center was full tonight as people got a look at plans to give the city's riverfront and downtown a dramatic new look.
The planning group, Sasaki Associates Inc., have unveiled their plans for riverfront redevelopment.
It would include residential units, retail, a hotel and a new waterfront park with an amphitheater.
They say the goal is to make Wetumpka a destination riverfront city.
Principals with Sasaki say it is just a conceptual plan and many details still have to be worked out, but they believe the dream is not out of reach.
"The project that we are proposing here is consistent with the current economic conditions, so everything that we are proposing is feasible financially," said John Chambless, Pincipal with Sasaki Associates Inc.
The next step is actually implementing the project and figuring out how this can be financed.
The planning group says much of it will rely on private investments while Mayor Jerry Willis says he plans to go after several grants.
