A Georgiana man is in custody after a seven hour standoff with police.

Butler County Sheriff deputies say Willam Randall Pettie is charged with two counts of attempted murder after he barricaded himself at his house and fired shots at police.

Deputies received a call around 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning by a family member who believed Pettie was in danger at his mobile home off Mackenzie Grade Road.

Police say they sprayed tear gas in the house because the man was uncooperative.

No officers were injured.
