Victim In Stable Condition After Faulkner Shooting

Faulkner University was placed on lockdown around noon when security officers learned that a female employee was shot on campus.

"Our investigation indicates that this is domestic related," said Denise Barnes with Montgomery Police Department.

The woman, who was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries, is a maintenance worker for the university.

Saul Calderon-Zavala is a student and says he saw the shooting.

"Heard a shot, glanced over, I saw a tall man with a red shirt. Immediately popped. That's the one thing I remember. Red shirt, black pants, there was a woman on the floor, more gunshots. She tried running away and she was just shot more. And he got into his car and drove off," said Calderon.

That's when police caught the man on Atlanta Highway, at the entrance to the university.

Those at Faulkner University plan to lean on their Christian faith to cope with the shooting.

"That's where I think a small faith based institution like Faulkner comes into play. Probably one of the first things we will do in addition to counseling that is already happening as we speak, we have daily chapel. So tomorrow's chapel program, I can assure you there will be some time to talk through this," said John Noel Thompson, the univeristy's vice president of student affairs.

All 2,000 students and faculty members were alerted via text message and email through a system called Eagle Alert. Calderon still feels safe on campus, especially with the quick response.

"I think this Eagle Alert helps a lot, it keeps people alert. It helped me know what was really happening as I tried to absorb what was going on," said Calderon.

The victim is now in stable condition. The suspect is being charged with attempted murder.

How often do they test the alert system? Why are they using just one system? Where is their Annual Security and Fire Safety Report??!!

If you didn't get an alert you need to update your notifications yourself. Nothing wrong with the system.

You don't need a picture. You don't need to know his name. You don't need facts (you wouldn't get them anyway and if you did wouldn't know it.). If you weren't notified, you don't need to know who was hurt. No one was at risk, the system worked. If you worry, that is your problem, you worry about things you shouldn't. But things weren't much worse. Students weren't involved. You could be put at risk because of your neighbor or your mailman or the meter reader, etc... You are just a busybody like realistically said.

Mamabear, you are part of the problem with this country. You want to know too much. Things that are none of your business. You are into the media hype. Go watch a (fake) reality show or chase ambulances to get your thrills.

The suspect has been arrested and the woman is in the hospital. There is no more threat on the campus and no students were injured or killed, Thank God! It's tragic but don't harp on it....pray about it. It doesn't matter what they look like

Where is the picture of the shooter, where is his name, I dont care that it was domestic we need facts and we need to know who was injured and where she worked on the campus because students were at risk because of both of these individuals. It is sad that we have to worry about this but depending on his frame of mind things could have been much worse. Why is there no reporting on this. It should not be a secret who they are either of them as the students were put at risk due to their relationship.
