Tuskegee Airman Dies at 95

Colonel Herbert Eugene Carter died in his hometown of Tukegee Thursday, according to Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford.

Carter was an original member of the famous Tuskegee Airmen of the 99th Fighter Squadron.

Mayor Ford has ordered flags in Tuskegee to be flown at half staff.  Funeral services have not yet been finalized.

Carter was 95 years old.

One of the first Tuskgee Airmen to lead a combat mission in 1941 has died.
