Photographer Traveling Cross-Country Makes a Stop in Montgomery

By Morgan Hightower

50 states in 50 weeks…

It sounds like a challenge but photographer Josh Hailey is on a mission to tour America.

The Mississippi native is on a journey to capture history.

Whether it’s through photos or video, Hailey is documenting every leg of the trip.

At the end of the tour, Hailey plans to put together a documentary and a book.

He calls it a 'modern interpretation' of the country.

So far, he's been to Hawaii, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and here in Alabama.

While in the state he's been to Birmingham, Tuskegee, and auburn, Montgomery and Gulf Shores.

“Alabama is all about the people - there are some great people with some great stories. There is some great history, from music to the civil rights to you know, down the street you've just Hank Williams, you got Rosa Parks this way in Montgomery. So uh, I’m so intrigued by real people and meeting people who just know a lot of history so Alabama was hard to do in a week,” explained Hailey.

Hailey's next stop is Louisiana.
