Thousands Of Dollars In Merchandise Stolen From Tractor Supply
Nearly $2,400 in tools and clothing were stolen from Tractor Supply in Greenville in August, but they didn't find that out until an inventory check just days ago.
"It makes you a little leary, not just at Tractor Supply, but any of the stores to go in. You don't ever know what anybody's up to," says Nelda Moseley, a Tractor Supply Shopper.
Another shopper, Chris Dunkin, says, "That means the employees aren't paying too much attention to what's going on. That would be my first reaction. How does that happen?"
Greenville Police say two men filled a shopping cart with expensive power drills. They say while one looked out for employees, the other left the store with the stolen tools.
"We've had some information regarding that it could have been an inside job as far as getting assistance on the items leaving the store, but at this point we are not able to confirm that," says Justin Luvvorn, Chief Investigator of the Greenville Police Department.
One of the suspects is now in custody. Police say James Banks was arrested on two felony theft and two misdemeanor theft charges. Investigators say Banks has an extensive history of similar crimes.
Luvvorn says, "We were able to identify him in the video and also had a witness in the store at the time, that identified him and matched him to the video."
Police have not made any other arrests and although they say they have some leads, they are still looking for the second suspect.
Authorities say the suspects stole from Tractor Supply 4 times. The Tractor Supply manager declined to comment on the thefts.
