Suspicious packages were found at two homes in two Montgomery neighborhoods.

Authorities are now saying the incidents are not related, and the material found is not hazardous.

Flashing lights lit up the sky as the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and emergency personnel investigated two suspicious packages in two nearby neighborhoods.

The first found on County Downs Road in the County Downs Subdivision on Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say a resident found a suspicious substance in liquor bottle in his mailbox.

Hazmat workers say they are sending the substance to a lab to find out what it is, but say it is not hazardous, and believe it is made from material found in a kitchen.

Raymond Tyc Lives a few doors down and witnessed the situation.

"I was riding my bike in the neighborhood, and the gentleman who lives in the house said, 'You need to back away from the house. There's a foreign substance in my mailbox,'" says Tyc.

The second package was found just a couple blocks away on Holly Ridge Drive in Bellehurst.

Authorities say a resident also found a bottle with unknown substance beside the mailbox.

Investigators say the incidents are unrelated.

"I think this is terrorism in a homegrown way," says Tyc.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators say if they find who did it, they will face felony charges.
