MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Wednesday, a committee meeting day:
COMMITTEES:
-House Committee on Boards, Agencies and Commissions approved a bill designed to keep nonprofit spay and neuter clinics operating by exempting them from a state law that permits only a licensed veterinarian to hire other veterinarians. Goes to House.
-Senate Confirmations Committee approved the selection of Wayne Smith and Michael DeMaioribus as Auburn University trustees. Goes to Senate.
-Senate Confirmations Committee approved the governor's reappointment of Randy Owen as a trustee of Jacksonville State University. Goes to Senate.
-Senate Education Committee approved a revised version of a bill to grant school systems more flexibility in complying with state education laws. Goes to Senate.
-Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill to permit posthumous pardons for the Scottsboro Boys. Goes to Senate.
