MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Tuesday, the sixth meeting day of the 2013 regular session:
HOUSE:
-Gave final passage to legislation that guarantees repayment to The Alabama Trust Fund of money that was borrowed to the General Fund budget. Goes to governor.
-Passed after a bill placing stricter rules and regulations on abortion clinics. Goes to Senate.
-Passed a bill to allow small businesses to opt out of insurance requirements that they pay for birth control. Goes to Senate.
SENATE:
-Passed a bill that allows municipalities to pay for improvement made on military facilities. Goes to House.
-Approved legislation to create the crimes of elder abuse and financial exploitation of the elderly. Goes to House.
AGENDA:
-Senate Education Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in room 727 st the Alabama Statehouse cuss a bill to give local schools more flexibility.
-Senate Judiciary Committee meets at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in room 418 in the Alabama Statehouse to discuss a bill to increase the penalty for a fourth DUI conviction.
-House Health Committee meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the joint briefing room at the Alabama Statehouse to discuss legislation to further prohibit smoking on hospital campuses.
-House Economic Development and Tourism Committee meets at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 418 to legalize home brewing of small amounts.
-The House Education Policy Committee meets at 3 p.m. Wednesday in room 418 to consider legislation that would create the crime of trespass on a school bus.
-House meets at 9 a.m. Thursday and Senate meets at 10 a.m. Thursday.
