State Troopers Will Kickoff Holiday Traffic Blitz at Midnight

By CBS-8 Reporter

At 12:01am Wednesday July 4th, Alabama State Troopers will have all available units out in full force on the roadways as part of their holiday traffic blitz.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety’s director, Col. Hugh B. McCall, said that troopers will focus on those violations that frequently cause crashes:  speeding, making unsafe lane changes, following too closely and failing to yield right of way. Troopers also will actively work to arrest drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs during the holiday travel period.

Overtime grants administered through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the Alabama Department of Transportation will support increased patrols during the Fourth of July travel period.

The holiday traffic blitz runs through Sunday, July 8th.
