Slapout's Jess Meuse is headed home after getting voted off American Idol Thursday night. But she  still will get a hero's homecoming.

Jess Meuse is coming home for a big parade but it happens to coincide with the fire department's annual fundraiser. Friday night volunteers were getting ready for what could be the biggest parade they've ever seen.

"Right now, we're cooking 1650 pounds of Boston butt, about 250 chicken halves, and  160 gallons of camp stew," said Holtville/ Slapout Asst. Fire Chief Greg Welch.

That's because American Idol Top 4 contestant Jess Meuse is coming home.

"You know they say if you get sent home from American Idol you don't get to have a homecoming, well she's going to have a homecomg. It's going to be awesome," said Jess' mom, Sheila.

"She's leaving American Idol but she is coming home a hero," said family friend Paula Holley.

It's the Holtville/ Slapout Fire Department's 53rd annual barbecue and parade, but this year just might be the biggest one ever .

"With the mass emails and tv coverage, I've actually had to call neighboring cities to come help us with traffic control tomorrow," said Welch.

Meuse will be riding in style in this Mustang provided by Collier Ford. There's no doubt her fanbase will show up.

"Rain or shine, we'll have something!" said Welch.

The proceeds for Saturday's event will go to the fire department to help build the new fire station.

The parade begins at 10am Saturday in downtown Slapout.
