Shotgun Fired Into a House in Wilcox Co.

By George McDonald

A Wilcox County woman is speaking out about the dangers of gun violence after someone fires a shotgun into her home.

The shooting happened in the Red Creek community of Wilcox County Friday night.

Homeowner Gloria Mendenhall says she heard the sound of gunfire that night but didn't realize her home had been shot into until the next day.

"I never would have expected it to happen here. Mostly every time I turn the TV somebody in Montgomery got shot or killed, up there in Selma, I ain't never expected it to come right up into my own house," she said.

No one was hurt in the shooting.

Mendenhall has filed a petition with the Wilcox County Sheriff's Office against a juvenile suspected in the shooting.
