Selma Woman Jailed After Allegedly Shooting Ex-Boyfriend's Car

By George McDonald

From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  A Selma woman is behind bars after she allegedly opens fire at her ex-boyfriend's car after an argument and a high-speed chase.

Police say 21 year old Ashley L. Towns of Selma fired multiple rounds into her ex-boyfriend's car last Friday. They say an argument between the two led to a high-speed car chase through part of downtown and over the Edmund Pettus Bridge. A portion of the chase was captured by city surveillance camera.

"Apparently what had occurred is they had stopped at the intersection of Broad Street and Selma Avenue near city hall. Had an altercation there which lead to the boyfriend speeding off causing the girlfriend to fall on the ground, after she got herself up and got back in her vehicle she chased her boyfriend across the Edmund pettus bridge to the intersection of (Highway) 80 and Old Montgomery Highway," said Selma Police Investigator Sgt. Curtis Muhannad.

Muhannad says Towns opened fire as the ex-boyfriend was trying to get away. He says the ex-boyfriend's vehicle was hit by the gunfire but noone was injured.
