Selma Teacher Arrested on Sex Charges Placed on Paid Leave

A Selma High School teacher arrested on sex charges involving students is placed on administrative leave by the school system.

School officials say Latangela Williams is on administrative leave with pay -- pending the outcome of the case against her. Williams was arrested at the school last week on several sex charges involving students.

"Now, it's just an allegation," said Selma School Board Chairman Henry Hicks. "But you know, once the court has made a decision and I guess the evidence will show, whatever comes out of that then we'll deal with that."

Williams is now is free on bail -- after a judge reduced her bond amount at a hearing yesterday -- on conditions limiting her contact with the school and students.

Of course, we were strongly opposed to the bond being reduced due to the seriousness of the charges," said Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson. "But the judge reduced the bond, then he recused himself."

Jackson says a special district judge will brought in to hear the case by the end of next month.
