The Selma Police Department says one of its off duty officers shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her stepfather, then turned the gun on himself.

At 12:10 p.m. Selma police responded to a shooting at the 2400 block of Springdale Street.

Selma police officers found their colleague, Officer Dwight Moorer shot to death inside a white car in a driveway next to his ex-girlfriend, also dead from gunshot wounds.

Officers also found another gunshot victim dead nearby in the 300 block of 10th Street, identified as Moorer's ex-girlfriend's step father.

Alabama News Network was the first news station at the scene of the crime.

Police believe Moorer, a five year Selmar police officer, shot both victims, then killed himself. Moorer was also an Iraq veteran with two tours of service.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has been called-in to investigate the shooting.

Selma police say their hearts go out to the family and friends of the victims in this tragic situation.
