Same-Sex Marriage and Religion

By Ellis Eskew

The Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday over the definition of marriage in light of the cases involving same-sex marriage.

Many people across the country are passionate about their stance on the issue.

For many, it's a religious and moral issue. But even when it comes to church, there are still people on both sides.

We asked can you be a Christian and still support same sex marriage?

Alexander Collins says, "I don't think they can be a Christian...same sex marriage is immoral."

Patsy Sanchez disagrees. "I believe if that's what your choice is who am I to judge them," said Sanchez.

The Supreme Court heard arguments for and against the federal Defense of Marriage Act today, which denies legally married gay spouses a wide range of benefits. The justices are expected to make a final decision sometime in June.
