The countdown is over. College football season is here. Sports Bars and Restaurants are stocking up on supplies for tomorrow, and employees are anticipating the biggest crowds of the year.
Baumhower's is gearing up for the first Saturday of college football season. Both Auburn and Alabama are playing tomorrow. Two schools employees say will draw several hundred people to the restaurant.
All hands are on deck. Every Baumhower's Restaurant Employee at the East Boulevard location will be pitching in Saturday.
"We're looking for a really big day. It's going to be one of the busiest days of the year coming into football season," says Hospitality Manager Jeremy Hutchens.
Hutchens is expecting a packed house, which is why the kitchen is stocked.
The most popular item on the menu? Chicken Wings. Hutchens says 3,000 pounds of wings will be sold over the weekend. He says any other time of the year, 2,000 pounds are sold over a week.
"We're based on sports, but football season is where everybody seems to get hyped up and come in," he says.
Baumhower's will be playing the Alabama game on the projector, and the Auburn game will be played on several flat screens throughout the building.
