Resolution Could Cut Hours of Drinking in Entertainment District

Carrying alcoholic beverages through the streets Montgomery's entertainment district after midnight could soon be against the law.

That's if the city council approves a proposed resolution which limits the times you can carry alcohol outside of licensed establishment. The resolution, which the council is set to consider Tuesday, limits those those hours from 9 A.M. until midnight.

Mayor Todd Strange says it's aimed at preventing underage drinking and late-night public intoxication arrests. Still, he says he and the police chief will have the power to adjust those hours for special events.
