Relief from Pollen and Allergies

Spring is finally here, but along with beautiful weather comes something many of us could do without.

"Already started. Already congested. Like already time to start taking the medicine," said Kim Jones.

Jones is one of many who suffers from allergies this time of year.
But it's spring break and we found her enjoying the park anyway with her kids.

"You do what you gotta do for the kids. It's all about the kids. Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit just for them," said Jones.

And unfortunately, Montgomery allergist Dr. Allen Meadows says we can expect allergies to get worse.

"As time progresses over the next week or two, we will begin to see some oak pollen. Some pecan tree pollen and that will be mixed with the pine tree pollen. Everybody thinks they are allergic to the yellow pine. But most of us are not. Most of us are allergic to the very fine stuff that comes with it at the same time of the year," said Meadows.

Meadows says for those who suffer from seasonal allergies, there are things you can do to help you through.

"Often times some of the over the counter treatments can be very effective, Zyrtec. Very inexpensive at the wholesale club," said Meadows.

Meadows says there are also nose sprays that can be effective as well so that you can be back to life as normal and actually enjoying this time of year.

"You look forward to the spring because the weather is so nice. It's not too hot and its not too cold," said Jones.
