Quidditch Festival in Montgomery

Event will raise funds for ASF

(Montgomery) --  Harry Potter fans may want to mark down February 23rd on their calenders. that's the day a "Quidditch" festival will be held at Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery.

Quidditch is a fictional game created by Harry Potter Author J. K. Rowling that involved teams of seven wizards and witches on flying brooms trying to get their "quaffle" through floating hoops. Mayor Todd Strange and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's artistic director dressed the part during a media briefing at the park this morning:

Geoffrey Sherman says they are "going to have an extraordinary celebration using brooms as a way to get around in this park. and you, all of you, and going to come watch, or you are going to take your life in both hands and try flying like all the other people who are going to be paying quidditch out on these grounds."

The Quidditch festival on February 23-rd presumably will not involve any actual flying brooms.....but it will raise funds for the Shakespeare Festival. more information at the website www.quidmontgomery.com
