Powerful Storm Rips Through Selma and Dallas Co.

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Folks in Selma and Dallas County are picking up the pieces after a powerful storm rips through the area Tuesday.

Pam Tyre says her family is counting their blessing's after a tree falls on their mobile home and everyone inside makes it out alive.

"Everybody's okay. We're just glad we ade it out of there," said Tyre.

Work crews are out and about cleaning up debris -- and working to restore power to residents still without power.

The fast-moving storm - packing powerful winds and heavy rains - popped up suddenly Tuesday afternoon -- and knocked down dozens of trees and power lines.

"It was just one one of those pop up storms with heavy rains, strong winds, lightning," said Dallas County EMA Deputy Director Toya Stiles.

Stiles says no serious injuries associated with the storm have been reported.
