Police Warn About Holiday Burglars

Troy police warn burglaries pick up this time of year. Hundreds of Troy University students hit the road for home. They are off for the next week.

Burglars aren't oblivious to that and often hit during breaks. Police say besides the usual reminders of locking up, they want to remind everyone to take pictures of valuables and serial numbers.

Lt. Bryan Weed, Public Information Officer for Troy Police said, "With identifying marks, numbers, or what not, we can enter it into a national computer so in case it gets found you know two states away, we have a way of showing it is that persons item."

If you do see your house has been broken into, police say don't go inside before calling them. You could be putting yourself in danger or contaminating the crime scene.
