Police Raid Dozens of Homes for Drugs in Autauga County

By Jessica Gertler

It was an early morning for law enforcement in Autauga County. After 18 months of planning, several drug suspects are now behind bars. CBS 8 was along for the ride.

We met up with police at the break of dawn and followed them as they arrested around 40 people across Autauga County for various drug charges.

Autauga County Sheriff's Department arrested dozens of people for various drug and weapon charges.

An operation they've been working for a year and a half.

More than 100 officers from agencies across South Alabama were on the scene, and some in the air.

Officers raided homes including one on North Pickett Street in Autaugaville. The suspect pulled from his home as children made their way to school.

"Right now we are targeting drugs and weapons. We've got some old felony warrants we are trying to serve," says Deputy Chief Joe Sedinger.

All of the suspects will be processed today and will be housed in the Autauga County Jail.
